About Us

Purpose

The HHS Center for New Media serves the agencies and offices of the US Department of Health & Human Services, promoting and supporting the strategic, mission-oriented implementation of new and social media across the Department. The primary audience for this site is HHS staff; however, we recognize that new media does not exist in a vacuum. In order for the Center for New Media to be successful, we must engage with other partners and stakeholders - both in and out of federal government.

Who we are

The Center for New Media is the result of the collaboration between the CDC and the HHS Web Communications Division. In addition to HHS and CDC staff, there are opportunities for staff across the Department to do detail assignments at the Center. The Center also provides coordination to teams compiled of individuals across the Department interested in a specific tool or topic.

What we do

  • Provide guidance on the use of new and social media for Department agencies and divisions.
  • Provide training about how new and social media can be used to support mission objectives as well as targeted training on specific tools and platforms.
  • Provide space and resources for Department staff to work collaboratively on cutting edge campaigns and projects.
  • Provide a platform for individuals to discuss and debate how government can use Web 2.0 to better serve the public.

If you have questions about the Center or would like to be involved, please feel free to contact us at newmedia@hhs.gov.
